The 2018 Honda Accord brings unprecedented style and athleticism to the mid-size sedan segment. Designed to stand out from the crowd, the new Honda Accord features a turbocharged engine, improved fuel economy, and more safety features. All of that and more has led to the Japanese automaker making a $267 million investment in its Ohio production facilities.
The $267 million investment will bring 300 new jobs and increase total production capacity at the Marysville, Ohio facility. That plant will receive the majority of the investment, $220 million, while the Anna, Ohio engine plant will see $47 million.
The Marysville location will have $165 million going to the construction of a new welding department that will house 342 new welding robots. The massive investment will increase total production capacity to 440,000 vehicles per year with the possibility of adding more volume to accommodate high 2018 Accord sales.
While Honda executives aren’t giving exact sales projections, they’re expecting sales increases thanks to the Honda Accord’s new design.
The Anna, Ohio engine plant will use the $47 million for retooling. That facility will build the Accord’s new turbocharged engine.
We here at Lee’s Summit Honda are proud to see Honda continuing to invest in American facilities!
